Indian Institute of Information Technology - Allahabad, Prayagraj, U.P
Bioinformatics Centre (BIC) at Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad
The BIC at IIIT Allahabad has been set up with the support of the DBT to create a state-of-the-art facility for big data analytics of large-scale genomics and proteomics data. The Centre focuses on developing novel solutions/ tools for large-scale genomic and proteomics data analysis and organizing workshops, hands-on sessions.
Deployment of hardware for big data and Development of various bioinformatics tools. To find out new cancer therapeutics by network mining, Association studies, Systems modeling, Molecular modeling, and MD-Simulation. To conduct Workshops/Hands-On sessions/Short-term cses/ Online Webinars on Scripting Languages, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, etc. on a Quarterly basis.
The centre has trained more than 140 participants and designed various tools and databases. The tools were developed to perform fast clustering, Gene-Disease-Drug Network Association Mining, and visualization. Further, the knowledgebase for antibiotic resistance, Olfaction-based Odorants Database, and Anti-Microbial Peptide Database were created by the Investigators at BIC: IIITA.
To date, a total of 147 candidates were trained at organised workshops, with a Male: Femaleratio of 76:71. Further, a patent/IPR was filed for rapid detection of coronavirus with highlyluminescent gold nanoclusters, and 8 publications have been made based on the work carried outunder the BIC.
Apart from developing a database for structural and functional knowledgebase for antibiotic resistance, and implementing a De Bruijn graph-based algorithm to accelerate the genomic clustering and searching tools, an assay based on biomass-derived carbon dots was developed as an antibacterial agent.
BIC IIIT Allahabad is committed to the development of human resces and the development of tools, software, and Databases for large-scale genomics and proteomics data analytics.
