Bose Institute, Kolkata
A multi-channel community campaign to connecting users
Bioinformatics Centre at Bose Institute, funded by Department of Biotechnology, is more than 3 decades old. After the completion of earlier center's project, a new project has started as a new center since 2022 with the objectives mentioned below.
Primary Objective
1. Understanding the cellular pathways and strategies adopted by the cells at molecular level that causes a malfunction leading to specifically Breast, Ovarian, Cervical and Lung cancer
2. Understanding the structural biology of the macromolecules involved in the diseases mentioned above, including their structural dynamics, interactions that determine their function, leading to the design of therapeutic peptides/small molecules to combat the diseases
Secondary Objective
1. Unravelling the contribution of Human and Microbiome in health and disease
2. Design of therapeutic molecules against plant pathogens, specifically against diseases of Leaf, e.g. Leaf Blight disease.
3. Revealing the molecular nature of stress resilience in a cultivated crop Training, workshop, teaching Development of Tools/software and databases
The centre has Developed databases and tools Achieved substantial understating on the molecular mechanism of allostery. Published research papers.
Cancer Stem Cells biomarker database (BCSCdb) http://dibresces.jcbose.ac.in/ssaha4/bcscdb Developed ML based tools:
