Bioinformatics Center for Metabolism and Toxicity – BIC

The BIC at NIPER S.A.S. Nagar is focused to create a state-of-the-art Pharmacoinformatics center. The center performs virtual screening of compounds using Molecular docking/Pharmacophore mapping/ Quantum chemistry etc. techniques. It aims to build a bridge between computational biology and bioinformatics as applied to drug discovery by using AI and ML.

Deployment of hardware for big data and Development of various bioinformatics tools. To find out new cancer therapeutics by network mining, Association studies, Systems modeling, Molecular modeling, and MD-Simulation. To conduct Workshops/Hands-On sessions/Short-term cses/ Online Webinars on Scripting Languages, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, etc. on a Quarterly basis.

NIPER is pioneered among all the pharmaceutical institutes in India. BIC at NIPER specializes in Pharmacoinformatics. The impact of this center is very prominent across all NIPERs and all pharmacy colleges including ayurvedic colleges. Recently we conducted an event in AI-SPARK2023. An event on ayurinformatics will be held in March2024.

The bioinformatics center has powerful computing facilities which includes CPU/GPU-based systems for performing cutting-edge research in the field. The center has performed QSTR studies which helped in identifying the toxicophoric features which helped in the reduction of toxicity. The center specializes in the use of computational chemistry, CADD and artificial intelligence technologies to solve problems in the field of pharmacoinformatics.
