Aigialus mangrovei Borse Trans. Br. Mycol. Soc. 88: 424, 1987 Ascomata 600-750 mm high, 590-880 mm diameter, subglobose in frontal view, ostiolate,
black, carbonaceous to coriaceous, completely immersed in a stroma,
gregarious. Asci
300-375 x 21-27 mm, 8-spored, cylindrical,
pedunculate, fissitunicate, thick-walled, with a
refractive apical plate in the ectoascus and a refractive
apical ring in the endoascus, not staining blue in IKI. Ascospores
38-52 x 13-17 mm ellipsoidal to broadly fusiform,
muriform with 6-7 transverse septa and 1-2 longitudinal
septa in all except the end cells, slightly constricted
at the septa, yellow brown except the hyaline apical
cells. |
