Helicascus nypae K.D. Hyde

Ascomata: Stromatic, 260-390 m m high, 750-1500 m m in diam., immersed, lenticular, black, carbonaceous, enclosing 3-4 loculi, loculi having a common central porus.

Asci: 192-280 x 14-20 m m, 8-spored, subcylindrical, pedunculate, thick-walled, bitunicate, fissitunicate, with an ocular chamber.

Ascospores: 25-35 x 12-15 m m, 1-seriate, brown, obovoidal, unequally 2-celled, constricted at the septum, sometimes at one or both ends apiculate, with a persistent mucilaginous sheath and a verrucose wall.
