Ascomata:320-656 µm high x 328-612 µm in diam., completely immersed, obpyriform, black, ostiolate, papillate, carbonaceous to coriaceous, gregarious.

Asci: 238-278 x 28-35.5 µm, 8-spored, cylindrical, pedunculate, thick-walled, bitunicate, fissitunicate, with a faint apical apparatus not staining blue in Melzer’s reagent.

Ascospores: 50-76 x 14-20 µm, 2-seriate, hyaline, sometimes mature spores pale yellowish, fusiform, 5-septate, slightly constricted at the central septum, less so at other septa, smooth-walled, filled with oil droplets.
