WORKSHOPS ORGANIZED BY THE CENTRE
 
 
"Advanced Workshop on Internet for Bioinformaticians" was organized by the centre during 25-27 March 1998 at the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. 13 participants from different Bioinformatics Centres participated in the workshop.
 
 
    "First National Workshop on Databases & Networking in Marine Biology" was organized by the centre during 9-11 March 1994 at the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. 16 participants from 13 marine biology related organizations in the country attended the same.
    
    Concept of "Indian National Marine Biologists and Biotechnologists (INMBB) Network was launched during the workshop which was well received by the participants and all agreed to be active members of it. 
 
 
 
 
       "National Workshop on Computer Aided Taxonomy of Marine Biota", was organized during 9-11 Nov. 1994. 15 participants representing major organizations like ICAR, C-DAC, ZSI, Coastal Universities, Bioinformatics Pune, attended the workshop along with participants of NIO. This was jointly sponsored by Department of Ocean Development and Department of Biotechnology. As a outcome of the deliberations at the workshop a joint proposal for development of Computer Aided Taxonomic Identification System (CATIS) for Marine Biota has been prepared.
