DISTINCTIVE CHARACTERS OF SPECIES

Metapenaeus monoceros (Fabricius, 1798)

Straight rostrum

PETASMA distomedian projection convoluted, greatly swollen' bulbiform, directed anteriolaterally and concealing distolateral projections in ventral view.

THELYCUM anterior plate long and deeply grooved; lateral plates with strongly raised lateral margins forming 2 longitudinal crests.

Meral spine of male

Distinctive characters : Almost entire body pubescent; rostrum armed with 9 to 12 teeth along entire dorsal margin, straight, reaching as far as, or beyond, tip of antennular peduncle.

Colour : Pinkish
