Profile Information

Brief History of the Centre:-
The Bioinformatics contributed in many ways in Drug Design and drug Discovery. It is time to expand every sphere of pharmaceutical sciences such as ADME, Drug delivery, Drug formulations, and drug design. Employing the bioinformatics based models in predicting the toxicological endpoints help in reducing the animal sacrifices. The QSAR and QSTR methods are being utilized by the regulatory authorities also. For this, the necessary evaluation is being done with the help of QSTR models, such models can be generated using the big data available, employing the statistical techniques. The cytochromes/many other drug metabolizing enzymes create many reactive metabolites. Such metabolites may be reactive or safe. The information regarding the safety profile of such metabolites on the various enzymes.

Approved Objectives of the Centre:-
1. To create a state-of-the art Pharmacoinformatics centre (A significant upgradation and modernization of earlier institutional centre).
2. To establish this as a centre of excellence which servesthe biology/pharmacology/drugdiscovery community.
3. To become the source of big data source in the field of pharmacology, pharmaceutics, formulation, etc. from all branches of pharmaceutical sciences.
4. To create a platform for exchange of data, tools and concepts between bioinformatics community and pharmaceutical community.
5. To conduct training in Bioinformatics to pharmacy students across the country while integrating them with the bioinformatics/biology students.
6. To take up translational research from informatics lab, synthesis lab, biology lab, pharmacology lab, eventually to clinical labor
