Simon came to bioinformatics after training as a molecular biologist. He originally did a first degree in microbiology at Warwick University before moving on to do a PhD in molecular evolution at Newcastle University.
Simon always had a keen interest in the application of computing to biology and following his PhD he moved into a full time bioinformatics position. He initially worked at the BBSRC Bioscience IT Services where he was a protein analysis specialist and was responsible for providing training in bioinformatics to the various BBSRC Institutes.
In 2000 he moved to the Babraham institute, where he has been the head of bioinformatics since the end of 2009.

Felix joined the bioinformatics team in the beginning of 2009 after finishing a postdoctoral position in Molecular Signalling at the Babraham Institute. He originally studied biology and did his PhD in molecular cell biology at the Department of Oncology in Erlangen/Germany (Department of Experimental Medicine II).

Anne is an ecologist who moved into statistics during her PhD in epidemiology (University of Lyon, France).
She got her first full time position at the School of Public Health and Population Science in Dublin where she was dividing her time between analysing the Lifeways Cross Generation Cohort Study data and teaching statistics to medical students.
In 2004, Anne moved to England and joined the Bioinformatics group at the Babraham Institute.

Laura has a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University and joined the group in February 2011 after completing an MSc in Applied Bioinformatics at Cranfield University.
Christel Krueger (Bioinformatician)

Christel has a PhD in molecular biology and worked as a researcher in the Epigenetics Department in Wolf Reik's group. She joined the Bioinformatics group in 2016 as maternity cover.
Steven Wingett (Bioinformatician)

Steven joined the group in April 2011. He has an undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Bath and a DPhil in plant reproductive biology from the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford. After completing his postgraduate degree, he worked in the information industry for several years.

Jo has a BSc in Biology and Biochemistry from Keele University and a PhD in Neurobiology from Cambridge University. Jo is a qualified school teacher and also has experience in adult training. Jo joined the group in September 2017 to support training .
